Abbey grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania and lived there most of her childhood. A student athlete, she attended East Carolina University in North Carolina, majoring in Elementary Education while diving for four years as a member of ECU’s Swimming and Diving team. After graduating college, she moved around the country with her high school sweetheart, Patrick – living and teaching in Illinois, Indiana, Florida – finally relocating to Hamburg Germany, where she was a teacher at the International school. It was there that Abbey’s real sense of travel and adventure flourished. Abbey and Patrick traveled to many European countries, with their dog, Brandy, got married, and had a daughter. After four years in Germany, they moved to Greenville SC where their family grew and their two boys were born. While it was fabulous to see the world, traveling to CO was always one of their favorite places to visit. So when the opportunity arose to move to CO last year, they jumped on it and have been embracing all that CO has to offer – hiking, skiing, rock climbing, snowshoeing and the great outdoors – ever since!
As a young child, Abbey grew up in a house where there were always a couple of dogs, beginning a lifetime love. As soon as Abbey and Patrick were living in a place that allowed dogs, they went to the closest rescue center where Brandy found them. About to turn 11 years, Brandy was their first baby and has been on countless adventures with them, including living overseas and owning a doggie passport!!
When her family moved to CO, the opportunity to continue to be a stay-at-home mom while also being able to work for Hike Doggie became a dream come true. Being able to hike when her time allows, as well as communicate with clients and help put new processes in place as Hike Doggie grows, gives her tremendous pleasure.
Abbey’s love of people, dogs and nature has made joining the Hike Doggie team such a wonderful adventure. Abbey is so grateful for the experiences she has been given to live in CO among family, friends and, yes, dogs!
