Steve was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa alongside his three older brothers. With cats and dogs in the house Steve quickly developed a love for all animals, and knew from a young age that he wanted to have a profession with them. Graduating from Kirkwood Community College in 2013, Steve started working at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics as a Supply Chain Associate where he learned to work in a fast pace environment and maintain an efficient and friendly work place. Moving to Colorado in 2017, Steve worked with Only Natural Pet as a Distribution Associate and loved getting into the pet industry. In 2018 Steve found Hike Doggie and realized that this was a sure fit. Coming on as Operations Manager in 2019 we have seen great additions to the Hike Doggie brand!
Over the years Steve’s life was always mixed with different animals. From riding horses to making the cow get off the dirt road, he’s had his fare share of encounters. With a couple different shelter dogs growing up, he saw how important having your dog socialize back into society truly was. Seeing a dog go from shell shock to an absolute lover is one of his greatest joys. Add in a little exercise to the whole ordeal and Steve found himself with Hike Doggie and hasn’t looked back since!
Since coming on with Hike Doggie Steve has become pet first aid certified along with starting to study dog behavior. Watching and interacting with so many dogs on a daily basis he quickly found how they behave extremely interesting. He hopes to soon have a greater understanding of why dogs behave the way they do to be able to predict future behavior!
Steve also enjoys playing volleyball, tennis, kickball and Ping-Pong! Some hobbies include snowboarding, rock climbing, camping, fishing, traveling, photography and eating all types of food. He’s hiked eleven out of fifty-three 14,000-foot mountains in Colorado. Anytime you find him doing these things you’ll almost always find him with his dogs Cooper and Izzy! This guy loves his family and friends and is always welcoming in new people, or DOGS!
