Our Gear Picks + 2 Hounds #DonateDecember

By: Hike Doggie

Isn’t there something extra magical when your pup gets to stomp through mud, sniff fresh pine under a mountain breeze, or flop in the back of the van after a full-on adventure with tongue lolling and heart racing? At Hike Doggie, those moments happen every week, and part of what makes them happen reliably is that we trust the gear we bring on the trail. That’s why we chose 2 Hounds Design, and why we’re proud to support their #DonateDecember campaign this holiday season.

🐾 Gear That Does The Job (And Then Some)

We hike dogs for a living, and that means we need gear that’s safe, comfortable, durable, and puppy-approved.

  • 2 Hounds no-pull harnesses and leashes are built for real hikes: they stand up to leash pulls, muddy paws, rocky trails, and fast-moving pups.
  • They give our hikers peace of mind: whether a mellow trail walk or a rambunctious pack hike, we know the dogs are secure and comfortable.
  • For clients who have adopted from shelters or brought home rescue pups, having high-quality gear from day one makes acclimating to walks safer and happier.

Because we use 2 Hounds gear daily, we know it works. And we know first-hand how a good harness or leash can make all the difference between a “meh” walk and a “let’s go again!” tail-wagging adventure.

🎁 Giving Back Through 2 Hounds #DonateDecember

This December, 2 Hounds Design isn’t just selling gear, they’re running #DonateDecember, a give-back program aimed at helping shelter and rescue dogs head into their next chapter with dignity, comfort, and safety.

Here’s how it works: when you buy 3 items (harnesses, leashes, or collars), 2 Hounds sends 7 total — meaning more gear goes directly to rescues than the original order. Some of those packages even come with extra goodies like “Adopt Me” bandanas.

We love this idea because it’s not just about gear, it’s about community, compassion, and giving shelter dogs a better shot at comfort, confidence, and adoption.

🐶 What This Means for Our Dog-Loving Community

When you book hikes with us, you trust us to give your pup a safe, fun, and enriching outdoor adventure. Supporting #DonateDecember means we extend that commitment beyond our paid clients to dogs who are waiting in shelters or rescues.

If you’ve already purchased 2 Hounds gear, or if you’re thinking about getting a harness or leash: this is a great time to act. Your purchase doesn’t just help your pup, it helps a shelter dog who might be unsure, nervous, or waiting for the forever home they deserve.

It’s an opportunity to give twice: once to your own dog and once to a dog in need.

💬 A Holiday Ask from Us

If you value what we do, providing consistent hikes, outdoor enrichment, and socialization for our furry friends, we invite you to join us in supporting #DonateDecember.

  • Consider buying 2 Hounds gear this month (or gifting it) to help shelter pups.
  • Share this post with friends or fellow dog parents who might love to help.
  • If you adopt a rescue, reach out! We’d love to help get you outfitted for hikes with high-quality gear.

Because for us, this holiday season is more than walks: it’s about giving back to the bigger dog-loving community.

more good stuff.

All Hike Doggies must meet the following requirements to ensure all our doggies remain safe and have an awesome hike:

  • Be neutered or spayed
  • Be well socialized around other doggies
  • Be non-aggressive or reactive towards; dogs, people, wildlife & other trail users (runners, bikes, etc)
  • Be well mannered while hiking on a leash
  • Be relaxed & calm during the ride to & from the trailhead in their Zen Den (comfortable individual travel space) aboard our Hike Doggie buses
  • Be current on their vaccines (Rabies, Canine Influenza, Distemper, Bordetella, Leptospirosis)
  • Be at least 6 months old or 4 months old if leash trained

If your doggie does not meet these requirements, we recommend neutering/spaying (if you are not planning on breeding your cutie) & do targeted training in any area where he/she may need some help so they can enjoy an enriched lifestyle full of outdoor fun with friends!
