Sniffing Out Success: Pet Care Franchise Opportunities for 2025 & Beyond

Sniffing Out Success: Pet Care Franchise Opportunities for 2025 & Beyond

By: wondercrateAdmin

For those of you who don’t know, the International Franchising Association (IFA) is the largest trade organization for our industry. Each year, typically during their annual convention, the IFA teams up with market research leader FRANdata to release a yearly Franchising Economic Outlook Report. This voluminous report offers detailed forecasts and projections based on analytical research and methodology from a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative sources. Aside from a macroeconomic viewpoint, the information is then disseminated into franchising’s many different industries and business sectors.

In this edition of the Hike Doggie blog, we’re going to look at the overall projections, as well as what can be expected for those who choose to franchise in the pet care-related sector. Here’s a hint – the news is great on both fronts!

What Franchising Can Expect in 2025

The biggest takeaways from the overall category all feature a year-over-year analysis for projected growth, with the report anticipating the franchise industry will “overperform” once again. Here are the numbers that back up this claim:

  • 851,000 – the number of franchise establishments in the U.S. by the end of 2025 – 2.5% growth
  • 210,000 – the number of new jobs the franchise industry will add in 2025 – 2.4% growth
  • $936.4 billion – the total franchise output in 2025 – 4.4% growth
  • $578 billion – franchise industry GDP – 5% growth

The main section concludes with the following paragraph:

“Meanwhile, advancements in technology and automation will continue to reshape operations and workforce dynamics, offering both opportunities and challenges. As inflationary pressures ease and economic uncertainty diminishes, franchising is well-positioned to navigate this transitional period and capitalize on emerging opportunities.”

As far as Hike Doggie is concerned, this is music to our ears. But what can we expect to see in our particular niche of the overall franchising projections? Let’s take a closer look…

So You Want to Invest in the Personal Services Industry?

The Hike Doggie franchise opportunity falls under the category of Personal Services, whereas there are other microeconomic projections for categories such as Restaurants/Hospitality, Business Services, Real Estate, Retail, and Lodging. Taken directly from the report is this glowing assessment of our Personal Services category:

“In 2025, FRANdata anticipates that personal services will continue to lead franchise expansion, demonstrating the highest year-over-year growth in both the number of establishments and overall output. The number of franchise establishments is projected to grow by 4.3%, reaching 132,000 locations, while output is expected to increase by 7.5%, totaling $48.7 billion. The sector is also expected to create more than 625,000 jobs in 2025. This growth is driven by the expansion of established brands, as well as the emergence of new brands catering to niche markets.”

Does any of this sound like a familiar description of Hike Doggie? But wait – it gets even better! Again, taken from direct quotations in the report:

“The outlook for personal services franchising in 2025 remains robust, supported by continued innovation and diversification into emerging niche markets. As consumer preferences shift toward more personalized and specialized services, franchises that effectively adapt to these evolving demands are poised to achieve sustained growth.”

There’s a line in there that bears repeating – “…as consumer preferences shift toward more personalized and specialized services, franchises (such as Hike Doggie!) that effectively adapt to these evolving demands are poised to achieve sustained growth.”

All Hike Doggies must meet the following requirements to ensure all our doggies remain safe and have an awesome hike:

  • Be neutered or spayed
  • Be well socialized around other doggies
  • Be non-aggressive or reactive towards; dogs, people, wildlife & other trail users (runners, bikes, etc)
  • Be well mannered while hiking on a leash
  • Be relaxed & calm during the ride to & from the trailhead in their Zen Den (comfortable individual travel space) aboard our Hike Doggie buses
