Meet your local pack leader

Hi, I’m Matthew—Colorado native, outdoor enthusiast, dad, and proud owner of Hike Doggie Flatirons. I was born and raised right here in the Centennial State, and there’s never been a time when the mountains weren’t calling. Whether I’m hiking a new trail, casting a fly on a quiet river, or exploring the outdoors with my dog Murphy, being outside is where I feel most alive.

Before starting this adventure with Hike Doggie, I spent over two decades in product development with companies like Eagle Claw Fishing Tackle and Elevations Credit Union. That experience sharpened my focus on quality, trust, and always putting people (and pups!) first. Still, I always dreamed of owning a business rooted in passion and purpose—and now I get to wake up every day doing something I love, surrounded by wagging tails and fresh air.

I’m also a dad to two amazing kids—Tommy (20) and Katie (16)—and they’ve been my greatest adventure yet. Our yellow Lab, Murphy, is a big part of the family too, and the inspiration behind this new chapter.

I believe dogs deserve the same sense of wonder and joy that we find on the trail. With Hike Doggie, my goal is to create unforgettable outdoor experiences for every dog we hike—helping them stay healthy, social, and mentally enriched.

Favorite Breed: Labrador Retriever
Favorite Trail: Walker Ranch
Favorite Activity: Fly fishing (and yes—I used to be a fly fishing guide!)

Fun Fact: I’ve never met a dog I didn’t like.

What local pet parents are saying...

Cierra

Donna Stockman

“I cannot recommend Matt and Hike Doggie Flatirons enough! Our dog, Cierra, is an anxious dog, who in general does not like anyone but us, and definitely does not like other dogs. I was honest when I reached out to Matt. What I love is that they give all dogs a chance! We had an hour + interview and, incredibly, Matt got her to leave me and go for a bit of a walk. That in itself is a miracle. The first hike day, I put her in her Zen Den. Since then, she literally runs and jumps in the big blue van! She does well with the other dogs, her pack mates, and I have caught photos of her kissing Matt. Miracle number 2! Miracle number 3 is that it has had an impact on her social anxiety and behavior. She is much more confident. She does not react nearly as much with either other dogs or humans when I am out hiking/walking her. She is more relaxed. The hikes are varied. Matt spends his free time scoping out locations that have wide paths, interesting scenery and are not crowded. She comes home happy and tired. And within usually 2 hours we get an album with photos of the adventure! Try them - you will not regret it.”
Jasper

Rebecca Doyle

“Our dog, Jasper, has been on numerous hikes with Hike Doggie and we all love it! Matt really cares about the dogs and makes sure that they have a great experience. Jasper was a little hesitant about getting in the van and Matt was incredibly patient with him. The follow-up messages and photos are detailed and fun. We all look forward to many more adventures with Hike Doggie Flatirons!”

THE

DOGGIE GAZZETE

A doggie blog written by dogs.

All Hike Doggies must meet the following requirements to ensure all our doggies remain safe and have an awesome hike:

  • Be neutered or spayed
  • Be well socialized around other doggies
  • Be non-aggressive or reactive towards; dogs, people, wildlife & other trail users (runners, bikes, etc)
  • Be well mannered while hiking on a leash
  • Be relaxed & calm during the ride to & from the trailhead in their Zen Den (comfortable individual travel space) aboard our Hike Doggie buses
  • Be current on their vaccines (Rabies, Canine Influenza, Distemper, Bordetella, Leptospirosis)
  • Be at least 6 months old or 4 months old if leash trained

If your doggie does not meet these requirements, we recommend neutering/spaying (if you are not planning on breeding your cutie) & do targeted training in any area where he/she may need some help so they can enjoy an enriched lifestyle full of outdoor fun with friends!
